A WIDER VIEW CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Beyond sustainable fisheries, our view of corporate social responsibility extends to our crews on land and at sea, to our customers around the world, and to the communities in which we work and play.

RESPECT

We attract and retain world-class customers and highly-skilled employees, and treat all with honesty, consideration, and dignity.

SUPPORT

Local communities are important to us, and we strive to be good citizens and make each one a better place to live.

LEAD

When it comes to corporate responsibility, we set higher standards for ourselves and we expect our industry to do the same.

UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS

Through the Pollock Conservation Cooperative (PCC), founded by American Seafoods and other harvest companies, we’ve established a research center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks to improve members’ knowledge of the North Pacific Ocean and the Bering Sea. PCC is the largest private donor to the university.

American Seafoods also takes leadership positions in industry efforts to research and advance seafood sustainability through our participation in the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) and Alaska’s Responsible Fisheries Management Program.

FEDERAL STEWARDSHIP PARTNERS

Scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are onbaord observers for each harvest. NOAA scientists gather data that helps monitor quotas for targeted and nontargeted species and helps ensure the sustainability of the fishery.

LOCAL STEWARDSHIP COOPERATIVES

American Seafoods is a member of both the Pollock Conservation Cooperative (PCC) and the Pacific Whiting Conservation Cooperative (PWCC). With federally regulated allocations, co-op structures have effectively ended excessive fishing and processing while supporting important scientific research.
